Special Exhibition Hina Doll Festival of the Owari Tokugawa Family 2024
~
To mark the season of the annual Doll Festival, which heralds the arrival of spring, this exhibition presents doll displays dating from the Edo period to the modern era from the Owari Tokugawa family collection. The galleries are filled with the unrivaled splendor of doll displays created for members of the daimyo household, including a graceful yūsokubina set owned by one of the Edo-period princesses, exquisite miniatures of wedding trousseau items, and gorgeous tiered doll set displays owned by three generations of Owari princesses in the modern era. We hope the many dolls and accessories displayed here will convey a sense of their historical importance.
