Thematic Exhibition Reading History: Letters and Documents from Early Modern Japan

This exhibition introduces letters written by important figures of the early modern period, such as Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, and presents interesting anecdotes about the writers, their personalities, and their personal relationships. These handwritten letters offer a more personal look at the historical events and emotional state of these early modern figures that are difficult to visualize and relate to through textbooks, historical overviews, academic studies, or other secondary texts alone.
